NEW RELEASE BY FRANCISCO LÓPEZ
We are very pleased to be able to announce the availability of the artist's most astonishing recorded work yet! "Addy en el paÌs de las frutas y los chunches" was originally released in an edition of 500 copies on the ND label in 1997.
This release is most comparable to efforts that centered more on the environmental aspects of artists work and is somewhat comparable to releases such as "La Selva" and "Untitled Music for Geography". "Addy..." was the first American release by López and to this day remains the artist's favorite release. The sound world created and captured by Francisco López on this recording is absolutely incredible, a beautifully horrifying listening experience. This could very possibly be one of the most important ambient records of the last 10 years and truly reinvents the concept of field recordings.

Francisco López and David Kristian Saturday July 20 at the Sala Rossa

(4848 St-Laurent, Montreal)
We are very pleased to announce the return of Madrid, Spain's Francisco López. This marks the artist's fourth Montreal performance, his fifth in Quebec after his performance in Victoriaville. If you have not yet witnessed what is easily one of today's most exciting live experimental performances, do not miss this chance!

Over the last twenty years Francisco López has been developing a powerful and consistent world of minimal electroacoustic soundscapes, 'trying to reach an ideal of absolute concrète music'. To date, his prolific catalogue comprises more than 120 sound works, which have been released by 80 record labels from around the world. He has toured extensively throughout Western and Eastern Europe, North, Central and South America, Japan and Australia doing acousmatic performances, and he has received commissions from a number of renowned institutions and organizations, such as the Dutch and Spanish National Radios, the Goethe Institut, V2 Organization (Rotterdam), Yale University Theater (New Haven), the Ralph Lemon Company (New York), the Zeitkratzer Ensemble (Berlin), Sound Traffic Control (san Francisco), Creative Time (New York) and Quartier Ephémère (Montreal).

Joining Francisco López this evening will be a very rare solo performance by one of Canada's most established electronic artists, David Kristian. His experimental work has been heavily documented by Alien8 Recordings on the following releases: Cricklewood, Roomtone, Tacoma Narrows Bridge (a split with SIAN), as well as his work in a trio with Sam Shalabi and Alexandre St-Onge. David Kristian's electronic works are on par with the best and comparisons have been made to the early works of Pauline Oliveros, Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream. David is planning a set of drone oriented experimental electronics, and he is sure to be is classic form. This marks his first experimental solo outing in three years. His last was at the Festival de musique actuelle de Victoriaville in 1999. Kristian's set alone marks this as a show not to be missed.

The show takes place Saturday July 20 at the Sala Rossa with special guest David Kristian, doors open at 9pm. Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Alien8 website press release

Francisco López from Madrid Spain launches his upcoming Alien8 release untitled #123 at La Sala Rosa with guests trio of Kristian, Shalabi, St-Onge and Tim Hecker Saturday Jan 5.

Francisco López has already blown the minds of more 500 people during his frst two live performances in Montreal. We are very pleased to announce the return of Francisco López, as well as the release of a new recording on Alien8.

This upcoming show ties in quite a bit with the first López live show at the Darling Foundry as part of the year long Silophone project put together by the [user]. At that time Francisco López dazzelled a crowd of 350 people in a performance that took place in an abondoned foundry in total darkness with the crowd lying down on a carpeted floor. The idea behind the show was to collaborate with the Silophone itself via an isdn hookup. Regardless to say the show was spectacular, Francisco López puts on the most inspired and intense live performances you are likely to witness. This also marked the release of our first release w/ lópez untitled 104. Following this show López also performed at the last Festival International de Musique Actuelle Victoriaville and another at Centro Social Espanol w/ Knurl, Tim Hecker and Mitchell Akiyama.

Anyone who has not already witnessed the awesome power of Francisco López live, do not miss your upcoming chance Saturday Jan 5 at La Sala Rosa. Francisco López will be presenting his latest in the series of untitled works along with a live performance. Untitled 123 was assembled with fieldrecordings put together during the artists stay in montreal while harvesting sounds generated from the Silophone. Also note that the audience is encouraged to put on blindfolds during the duration of Francisco López live set and experience music like you never have before.

Also on the bill will be the local allstar improv trio of David Kristian, Sam Shalabi and Alexandre St-Onge. One never know what to expect from the adventurous trio, from silent improv to incredibly intense free-psych. Their self titled debut was recently voted in the top 5 improv releases of 2001 in Exclaim.

Tim Hecker aka Jetone has really exploaded over the last year, performing at both Mutek and FCMM aswell as releasing 3 full length records for Pitch Cadet, Force Tracks and most recently Substractif. Along with Shalabi, Hecker is one of the artists whom we have had performing quite regularly in the last year, most recently with Tomas Jirku and Manitoba.

This upcoming performance with Tim Hecker will highlight the type of sounds found on his Substractif release, structured ambient music.

There will also be one other artist on the bill tba.

La Sala Rosa Saturday Jan 5 doors 8pm, showtime 9pm Admission is $12 in
advance and $15 at the door.
